[Nauvoo Temple] Brigham Young in a letter to the Trustees counseled them to use their best judgment in selling the temple and use the funds to pay the laborers who worked on the temple and to assist the poor. They also asked them to forward the Temple bell to him, as "you will have no further use of the Temple Bell." This was done and the bell was forwarded, because when the pioneer party left for the Rocky Mountains Brigham Young took the bell.
